When you use VegAssess, we collect the following information:

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and organisation details provided during registration.
  • Assessment data: Vegetation survey data you record in the app, including species observations, measurements, and condition scores.
  • Location data: GPS coordinates associated with your projects and assessments, used to map survey sites.
  • Device information: Basic device type and operating system version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the VegAssess service.
  • Sync your assessment data across devices.
  • Generate reports and data exports you request.
  • Provide technical support and respond to enquiries.
  • Improve the app based on usage patterns (anonymised and aggregated).

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific (Sydney) region. All data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. We use AWS Cognito for authentication and authorisation.

4. Data Retention

We retain your assessment data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for analytical purposes. You can export all your data at any time using the app's export features.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. Your assessment data is only shared with members of your organisation as configured by your organisation administrator. We may share data with third parties only when required by law or with your explicit consent.

6. Your Rights

Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Export your data in standard formats (CSV, PDF).
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
